Routine management of the pediatric hematology/oncology patient may include symptom management and/or treatment with high-dose chemotherapy or immunotherapy. The fellow will provide direct clinical services for acute and chronic illness management in the areas of Pediatric Solid Tumors and Pediatric Hematologic Malignancies in collaboration with attending physicians.
Pediatric Inpatient : At Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the APP-driven model in Pediatric Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapies, Pediatric Surgery, and Pediatric Pain and Palliative Care (PACT) promotes autonomous management of patients in these areas of clinical practice. The fellow will provide direct clinical services for acute illness management in these areas in collaboration with attending physicians. The goal of this rotation is to provide comprehensive training in these areas to promote safe, patient-centered care to this specialized patient population.
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU): While rotating within the PICU, the APP fellow will provide direct clinical services for the evaluation and management of critically ill pediatric hematology/oncology patients in collaboration with pediatric intensivists and the multidisciplinary team. Our vision is to enhance and promote the transition of the new APP into practice while providing comprehensive education and training specific to pediatric critical care medicine.
