Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) functions as an independent care provider in collaboration with the medical staff to provide care for med-surg patients. Their advanced practice is characterized by comprehensive health assessments and management of patients with acute and/or chronic health problems. Care is provided to critical care patients in the outpatient and inpatient settings. Responsibilities include: obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests including but not limited to radiology and lab tests, prescribe pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments, education patients/families regarding disease process, medical intervention, and health promotion, and documentation of care provided. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: write admitting orders, routine orders and daily progress notes and perform clinical procedures.
The APN communicates pertinent abnormalities to the collaborating physician.
The APN serves as a source of other members of the interdisciplinary team in regards to patient and disease management.
Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of NJ. Certified Nurse Practitioner in the State of NJ.
Masters prepared in Nursing from an accredited program.
