Registered Nurse Palmetto Pee Dee Behavioral Health is a 59-bed behavioral health facility located in Florence, SC, offering adolescent behavioral health programs and treatment services to males and females ages 7-21.
The Registered Nurse position is responsible for delivering quality general and psychiatric nursing care to patients with emotional, behavioral, and/or psychiatric disorders; serve actively and constructively as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team; and to ensure the safety and well-being of each patient.
Displays knowledge of treatment procedures
Triage illness and injuries at each shift, determine medical priority, and treat within the scope of nursing practice or referral when treatment is beyond the scope of nursing practice.
Knowledge of interventions common to acute psychotic as well as to non-violent crises intervention practice.
Monitor and/or administer medications, document adverse affects of the medication, and any test that may be required for each medication.
Proven record of consistently high quality of clinical and interpersonal skills to be a role model to others;
Completion of all required nursing documentation.
Provide treatment ensuring that services and documentation meet treatment-related state, JACHO, Palmetto Pee Dee Behavioral Health, and contractual requirements.
Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology; application of this knowledge to nursing care;
Knowledge of medical terminology; thorough familiarity of psycho-pharmacy and the use of psychotropic medications;
Basic teaching and training skills helpful;
Problem-solving; organizational and time-management ; crisis intervention skills;
Written and oral communication skills;
Skills in facilitating and/or co-facilitating process oriented and didactic groups;
Must meet eligibility requirements for CPR, and Crisis Intervention certification
Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships in a variety of clinical and support team members;
Flexibility regarding hours and scheduled work is required;
Maintaining information as highly confidential mandatory;
Prior knowledge and experience working in a therapeutic treatment environment is a plus;
Provides resident assessment, nursing care and evaluation of nursing care
Ensures consistent use of the nursing process in providing quality resident care
Acts as a resource to residential care staff
Serves as a role model for residents to observe and learn socially effective values, attitudes & behaviors
Responsible for Medication Administration, Maintaining documentation
Develops treatment plans, Carry out physicians orders, etc.
Ensure the safety of residents by ensuring that precautions are being followed as written by physician
Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology; application of this knowledge to nursing care
