Responsible for supporting the organizational strategic goals and objectives specifically those related to clinical risk management and patient safety, infection control, regulatory performance improvement and quality of health care rendered by the System for the purpose of Peer Review process. Performs all duties in a manner that promotes a team concept and reflects the goal of providing seamless support for patients.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System in its effort to provide quality patient care, patient safety and patient satisfaction with the standards set by associations of health care providers and with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
The scope of the program includes responsibilities for regulatory performance improvement, risk management / patient safety, patient advocacy and infection control at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.
Reports directly to the Manager, Quality and Patient Safety at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

Demonstrates professional knowledge about and promotes compliance with patient advocacy, clinical risk management and patient safety theory, principles, guidelines, statutes and regulations and with professional standards.
Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively and has comprehensive understanding of the theory and principles of clinical risk management, patient advocacy, performance improvement, and infection control.
Demonstrates ability to effectively interface with patients, families, physicians, administrators, regulatory bodies, and consultants.
Demonstrates ability to use negotiation skills to mitigate potential risk to the organization.
Demonstrates ability to analyze data.
Demonstrates clinical knowledge to review medical record and clinical data.
Demonstrates analytical and critical thinking skills to manage complex clinical issues.
Demonstrates computer skills, basic data entry, and report development skills.
Demonstrates excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
RN with current Pennsylvania licensure or eligibility required. Graduate from an approved school of nursing required.
Bachelor's degree in a health-related field preferred.
Minimum five years nursing practice experience in an acute care hospital preferred. Performance Improvement, Clinical Risk Management, and Infection Control experience preferred.

GEISINGER-LEWISTOWN HOSPITAL: is a 123-bed acute care community hospital serving the 80,000 residents of Mifflin and Juniata counties and members of the contiguous counties of Centre, Perry, Snyder, and Huntingdon.
