The Senior Clinical Applications Specialist acts independently to provide specific consulting, systems analysis, configuration, coding and overall leadership related to the acquisition, implementation, and use of MHS’ clinical applications portfolio (Epic). Senior Applications Specialists apply specific clinical knowledge and expertise to modify and enhance system/application modules, as well as identify and implement optimal system solutions. Individuals within this classification manage all phases of clinical projects and are accountable for the success of specific system implementations, enhancements, process improvements, and overall benefits realization. Incumbent team members function as key liaisons for user contact and customer service on behalf of information services and are accountable for end-user satisfaction. Individuals in this job classification may also develop departmental policies, procedures, training materials and may participate as educators for end-users as related to specific information systems and services. Senior clinical Applications Specialists frequently prepare analytical reports and make recommendations to management and project directors, ensuring that the organization’s goals, philosophies, and objectives are optimally supported by information technology.
The Senior Clinical Applications Specialist also serves as the technical subject matter expert (SME) for flow of electronic data used in Quality Measurement and reporting and works collaboratively with Physician champions, Quality & Performance Improvement Informatics and various information services teams to understand, optimize, and complete projects and reporting related to patient, provider, and administrative data.

Minimum of 5 years progressive nursing, pharmacy and/or exceptional clinical IT experience, significant and successful clinical project management.
Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare and evolving industry standards/challenges.
In-depth, broad, contemporary knowledge of multiple areas of healthcare applications/systems, PCs, collaborative computing tools, re-engineering and process improvement techniques, information management in healthcare, general information architectures, systems integration, laws, and regulations.

Proven leadership, supervision, and motivational ability.
BS or Advanced degree in clinical or discipline or equivalent business experience in a related field. Licensure as RN, Pharmacy, Laboratory, MRA or other healthcare business area preferred.
Specific Certification in application modules such as EpicCare ClinDoc or Orders highly preferred.
